The cost of addiction in the workplace !

Writer: james belljames bell

Addiction causes significant problems in the workplace by impairing an individual's productivity, focus, and reliability. Substance abuse or behavioral addictions often lead to absenteeism, tardiness, and poor performance, disrupting team dynamics and workflow. Employees struggling with addiction may exhibit erratic behavior, mood swings, or impaired judgment, increasing the risk of accidents or errors. This not only jeopardizes their safety but also that of their colleagues. Additionally, addiction can strain workplace relationships, erode trust, and create a hostile environment. Employers may face increased costs due to healthcare expenses, turnover, and lost productivity, ultimately harming the organization's overall efficiency and morale
